A self-working principle means that if the performer follows a well-defined set of instructions then the trick should work all by itself. Skills for Learning FX focuses on decision making, planning and creativity.

Computer Science FX eBook (formally known as The Conjurer’s Classroom) is a collection of creative workshops that combine the art of magic with key principles of computer science to engage learners and develop skills in computational thinking.

Solving magic tricks is about computational thinking and performing magic tricks encourages interaction, self-confidence, concentration and empathy. Computer Science FX uses experiential learning to discover the scientific principles at work whilst also developing skills in computational creativity.
All workshops are supported with suggested activities, learning intentions, links to the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence, tips on presentation and detailed analysis of the scientific principles at work. They have been designed to incorporate a variety of teaching methodologies and inspire inter-disciplinary learning.

This course has been designed to develop 21st century skills that can be applied to real life applications. Learner can solve problems, communicate and collaborate with others whilst thinking creatively and working creatively with technology.
INTERNET LITERACY FX aims to develop knowledge and understanding about the dangers faced online whilst also providing sufficient information to allow you to make informed choices. This creative and innovative course is designed to develop practical and presentational skills that can be applied to internet safety, staying in control, cyber bullying and location services.
NUMERACY FX brings numbers, creative presentation and magical processes to life. This course has been designed to develop knowledge and understanding of basic numeracy and practical skills that can be applied through presentation. These practical skills may then be applied by the learner to solve computational problems, communicate and collaborate with others whilst thinking creatively and working creatively with others.
Each course is a collection of units. Each unit can be studied individually or collectively as a full course. All units have learning outcomes and supporting activities that are brought together by the learning of a magic trick. The comprehensive lesson plan for each unit is provided as a PDF download.
